๐ŸŒธ Three-Day Spiritual Journey: Hubli → Srisailam → Vijayawada

Our family pilgrimage to Srisailam was a blend of devotion, planning, and shared joy. Here’s a detailed account of the three-day journey, with tips for future pilgrims.

๐Ÿ—“️ Day 1 – Thursday Evening

  • ๐Ÿš† Train: Hubli → Nandyal, departure at 7:45 PM.

  • Overnight journey with group coordination, light meals, and devotional songs to set the mood.

๐ŸŒ… Day 2 – Friday

  • Arrival: Nandyal at 4:45 AM.

  • ๐Ÿš— Road Trip: Nandyal → Mahanandi (18 km / 30–40 min).

  • ๐ŸŒŠ Activities: Holy dip at Pushkarni, darshan at Mahanandi Temple.

  • ๐Ÿฒ Anna Prasada available at the temple.

๐Ÿš— Travel to Srisailam

  • Route: Through Nallamala Forest ghat (~3 hours).

  • Bus Charges:

    • Markapur Road → Srisailam: ₹200 per head.

    • Srisailam → Vijayawada: ₹580 per head.

  • Group Vehicle Booking: We bargained and booked 2 Force NAC vehicles from Atmakur → Srisailam for ₹15,000 (30 members including kids).

  • ๐Ÿจ Accommodation: Plenty of rooms near the temple: ₹1000 (Non-AC), ₹1500 (AC). Rooms can be booked directly after arrival.

๐ŸŒธ Evening Darshan

  • ⚠️ Morning darshan closed due to Poornima rituals.

  • At 5 PM, we had Bhramaramba Devi Darshan (idol without alankara, chance for Sparsha Darshan).

  • ๐Ÿฒ Anna Prasada available.

๐ŸŒ„ Day 3 – Saturday

  • ๐Ÿ•‰️ Mallikarjuna Temple Darshan: One of the twelve Jyotirlingas.

  • ๐ŸŒธ Darshan Tip: Try to complete darshan before 8 AM. After 8 AM, free darshan is closed for 2 hours; only pilgrims with ₹150, ₹200, or ₹500 tickets are allowed.

✍️ Aksharabhyasam Ritual

We performed Aksharabhyasam at Srisailam, a sacred initiation into learning for children.

  • Booking: Online, ₹500.

  • Items to Carry: Banana, flowers, camphor, rice grains, coconut, slate, chalk.

  • Important: Carry the Aksharabhyasam ticket printout to enter the special darshan queue.

  • Akka Mahadevi Caves

  • Srisailam Dam and viewpoints

  • Nallamala Forest drive

๐Ÿš™ Travel to Vijayawada

  • To save time, we hired 2 Jeeps from Srisailam → Markapur Road Railway Station for ₹6000.

  • This ensured we caught the train to Vijayawada smoothly.

  • ⏰ Arrival at Vijayawada around 8 PM, hotel booked via MakeMyTrip.

๐ŸŒธ Day 4 – Sunday Morning

  • Darshan at Kanaka Durga Temple, Vijayawada.

  • ๐Ÿฒ Anna Prasada available.

  • ๐Ÿš† Afternoon train: Vijayawada → Hubli at 01:10 PM.

๐ŸšŒ Travel Tips

  • Limited Buses: From Mahanandi → Srisailam only at 6:00 AM, 8:30 AM, and 3:30 PM.

  • Better Option: Travel to Atmakur and catch a bus or hire a vehicle. Bus charge: ₹30 per head.

  • Rooms: No advance booking needed; plenty available near the temple.

  • Group Coordination: Pre-booking vehicles saves time and ensures comfort for large groups.

✨ Conclusion

This three-day pilgrimage was a perfect blend of devotion and planning. From the holy dip at Mahanandi to the divine darshan at Srisailam and the sacred Aksharabhyasam (I prefer at Sringeri compared to here), every moment was filled with spiritual energy. Careful travel arrangements and group unity made the journey smooth and memorable.
